Week 1: Sept 8 – Raul Inglis
Focus: In my class I am going to focus on the “Onset” acting experience. How you’ll be treated, what is expected of you, and the tricks and an actor can use to survive.
Week 2: Sept 15 – Lucie Guest
Focus: Finding moments that aren’t on the page… bring grounding comedic moments to a romcom MOW and a finding the tone.
Week 3: Sept 22 – Pete McCormack
Focus: The workshop will be about finding different and original ways to play (and even write) a given scene. We’ll abandon fears of failing as we explore different ways of figuring out our creative intentions. Instead of worrying about doing things “right,” we’ll stretch our imaginations and artistic possibilities.
Week 4: Sept 29 – Jon Rosenbaum
Focus: Comedy, comedy, comedy! We will dive into the world of all things funny – from understanding the material, to auditioning, to performing…as well as exploring the differences between single camera and multi-cam (sitcom).
Week 5: Oct 6 – Siobhan Devine
Focus: I will talk about how to present yourself in the best light as a day player (guest star). How to make yourself stand out in a good way on set.
Week 6: Oct 20 – Heather Hawthorne Doyle
Focus: Tips and Tricks for audition day including how to pivot when the direction given is very different than what you prepared.
Week 7 Oct 27: – Jesse James Miller
Focus: I’d like to break down a selected scene, starting from the script (analysis – using “the kernel technique”), then blocking and shooting (simply). After those steps are done I’d like to play the scene from it’s finalized version (movie selected from) and compare the classes choices. Just a creative practice in choices.
